The name ''yeye'' derives from the Beatles lyrical verse, ''yeah, yeah, yeah'', which took the United States by storm as the upper class Haitian families who had access to the radio, formed these small electric guitar based bands. These ''yeye'' rock bands became short-lived when they added ''Compas'' to their repertoire in which the resultant sound was called mini-jazz, or ''mini-djaz'' in creole. Today, ''Rock Kreyòl'' is an alternative rock music with a blend of Caribbean flavor that was first introduced to Haiti by ''Yohann Doré''.
